About Us
Sydney and Richard meet in March of 2015 on a characteristically windy and drizzly Seattle day. They had been matched on the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel and decided to meet up for hot chocolate. On one of their early dates, Richard took Sydney to brewery hop in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood where he got her to drink something other than Blue Moon. Over the years, Richard’s interest in beer has become a shared passion between the both of them. When they’re not drinking beer, they are going for walks, cooking, watching Netflix, and looking at pictures of puppies.
Sydney Carson
Sydney, originally from Oakland, CA, graduated from Haverford College with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in Spanish. After college she moved to Seattle to participate in a year of service working with Seattle’s homeless population. Her original plan of staying in Seattle for only a year changed once she got a full time job and met Richard. She is currently working in education and is challenging herself by learning web development – she built this website! When she is not working, she is always planning her next adventure. She has been to over a dozen countries, studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, and has recently traveled to Cuba with Richard. What’s next on her travel wish list? Thailand!
Richard Hedelund
What makes a man? Hopefully not the clothes, because most of Richard’s are free beer shirts. He left the University of Washington with a BS in chemistry, working in various labs around Seattle until he finally decided to pursue his dream in the beer industry. Richard has been working at a local Seattle brewery since early 2016, starting on the keg line before being promoted to his “home turf” in the lab as a Quality Assurance Technician. He continues to dive deeper into his passion, learning more about the beer world and sharing his knowledge wherever he can.
